baby bottle warmers

Baby Bottle Warmers - why do you need them?
Mom's need to be careful when heating pumped breastmilk or formula. If you heat breastmilk in the microwave it can change the milk's composition which cause the milk to lost certain anti-infective properties and nutrients even when microwaved for a short amount of time. This is why they are very effective and why most newborn's parents are buying them. Breastmilk is generally very sensitive to warm temperatures and can very eaily lose it's vitamin C content.

For example, the The First Years Fast Heating Travel Warmer is a good way to warm bottles on the go while travelling in the car. This model comes with features to prevent overheating and it works well with all bottle types and sizes. I have used this one to warm up different bottle sizes - 3oz bottles, 4oz bottles, 6oz bottles and 9oz bottles and it works great with everyone. The unit is a "wrap around" unit that warms the bottles on the go in the car without the necessity of using water or steam.

A baby bottle warmer is a product that is responsible for heating up a baby's formula, milk or liquid food. It accomplishes this by allowing up to two baby bottles to be placed into the device. Once in there, a heating element warms the liquid up to a temperature that is safe for a baby to handle. The device is designed where it will keep the temperature constant and not make it too hot or too cool for the baby.

Since the milk did not heat up, I decided to just the bottle in hot water to heat it up. I decided to look into my options in baby bottle warmers. I discovered that all units were indeed not created equal after I did a little reading. As a result, I invested more than I wanted in baby bottle warmers but it was worth it in the end. The new item is a bit more expensive but I got what I paid for. At least, I learned that I should do some research before buying anything, especially if the price is too good to be true.

There are many benefits that are associated in using the baby bottle warmer. The most important is the fact that it is able to keep the liquid in the bottle at a constant temperature. If a parent was supposed to heat the bottle on the stove or in the microwave, it would be a hassle to be constantly checking to see if it was warm enough or if it was too hot. Another benefit in using this product over the microwave is the uneven way in which the microwave heats food.

One of the most encouraging facts about the baby bottle warmers is that it is possible to make use of such heat providing apparatus while one is traveling. There are some disadvantages that are associated with such type of heating instruments. Heating elements of low quality products can suffer from uneven heating which can indirectly play a significant role in melting down the container. Inappropriate heating is often associated with such heating instruments.

baby bath accessories

Baby bathing products or accessories are numerous, but there is one item that is most essential - the baby bath towel or baby bath robe. A baby bath towel or robe must be soft on the child's skin. If the child shows some discomfort while you use it on him, assume your child has not taken a kind view towards the new accessory and it is paining or irritating his skin. Also, the bath robes or towels must be sufficiently large so that it can easily and fully wrap around the baby.

Top on the list of baby care accessories will be the accessories that relate to the health of the baby - these are the baby's health reporting tools and instruments that monitor the baby safety. Most of these tools and aids are fashioned with the baby in mind, and are attractively designed to please the baby's mind after a lot of research.

The parents can always monitor about their baby's health condition. These accessories give instant report of our baby's health. The parents can use these accessories 24 hrs. on their baby and the baby will also enjoy these accessories because all the accessories are designed so attractively keeping in mind of our babies. These accessories are of various toys shaped. So, our baby will never get feared seeing these accessories moreover they will enjoy it very much as their toy games. It helps to acknowledge the parents about the baby's health condition 24 hrs. instant and keep the babies full of enjoyment.

Baby preference

For a while our baby developed hatred of bath time, we didn't know what to do He was about 1 1/2 and for no apparent reason at all, he seemed to be scared of water. He wouldn't use a baby bath or our bath at all. The only option left to us, was to top and tail him until the phobia passed. It worked, but it just goes to show, when YOU think something is OK for baby - they might have other ideas.

The baby bath mat can be a great way to make bath time a fun fill activity. Usually it is hard to handle kids while giving them a bath but if you have something that will help him remain distracted from the water and the soap in your hand he would be able to enjoy his time. That way you will be able to give him a bath without making him cry and finding it difficult to handle him all the time.

Bath Towel And Wash Clothes

Baby towels and wash clothes are usually made from pure fabric which are ideal for a toddler's soft and sensitive skin. There are wide varieties of bath towels and wash clothing to choose from. They come in different strokes of style, design and color. These are items you may include if you wish to give a baby gift basket to welcome a newborn child. Consider a Personalized Alphabet Hooded Towel that can add adorable accent for toddler's bath time. This is a perfect gift to give during baby shower parties that can surprise mom for its irresistible cuteness and softness.

newborn fever

The same herpes virus that causes cold sores, the herpes simplex virus (type 1), can be responsible for a condition known as "herpes encephalitis", which is very serious because this is when herpes invades the nervous system and can potentially damage the brain, this is called herpes encephalitis, and most typically occurs in patients with reduced immune function such as newborns and those taking immunosuppressive medication for various reasons (organ recipients) as well as HIV/AIDS sufferers.

Children with fever will feel hot and show certain changes in their behavior depending on their age. Newborns will be either fussier or sleepier than usual-or both; they will refuse the breast or bottle; and they are apt to have fewer, drier diapers than normal. Older babies and toddlers will be cranky, "clingy", and less energetic than usual. They will have no appetite but will seem especially thirsty. Finally, toddlers will either be quite listless and sleepy or very irritable and have difficulty falling asleep.

All you need to do is dab some cotton wool in slightly warm, sterilized water (water boiled for 20 minutes and then cooled) and massage the corners of your baby's eyes. Use different cotton wool for each eye to prevent cross infection. You may even consider applying cool tea. Place a tea bag in boiling water and let it simmer for a couple of minutes. Let the water cool down and then wipe the corners of the eyes using cotton wool. You can also gently massage around the eyes with your finger to help free the tear ducts.

The virus is spread by coming in contact with the blood of an infected person. The vast majority of hepatitis b infections occur in persons considered to be in "high risk groups." These groups include adults who inject illicit drugs or are chronic alcoholics; individuals who have been diagnosed with a sexually transmitted disease; and men who have sex with men.

If you are going to breastfeed your baby for the first time, ask questions of both your caregiver and other experienced women. Whether bottle-feeding or breastfeeding, your schedule will be mostly decided by the demand of your baby during the first months.

Some babies sleep longer between feedings than others and some will take to a set schedule right away. There is no definite course for feeding because babies differ in their habits. Newborn babies may also have differences in their digestive functions. Some babies spit up after eating or even after burping; some may vomit and some never do. These are things you will have to adjust to with your baby. But don't panic at the first sign of milk coming back up; it might only mean that the baby has overeaten at the time.

There are many variations in normal body temperature, and this needs to be considered when measuring fever. Most people's body temperatures even change a little bit during the course of the day. Fevers are primarily caused by viral or bacterial infections, such as pneumonia or influenza. Fever has several potential causes. First is infection-Most fevers are caused by infection or other illness. Fever helps the body fight infections by stimulating natural defense mechanisms.

jaundice infant

Infant jaundice is a condition which shows up as a yellow hue to the whites of the infants eyes and a yellow cast to the skin starting on the baby's head and moving down to the toes.Jaundice occurs as a result of the breakdown of extra red blood cells associated with the transition form your fetus receiving oxygen from your placenta to supplying her/his own oxygen. Bilirubin is a by-product of this breakdown process, and when it is reabsorbed and circulates it tints the skin and eyes yellow.

If your infant was born jaundiced or jaundice occurred within the first 24 hours after birth, she may have jaundice related to blood incompatibility. If the mom and the baby have different blood types, the mom may start to produce antibodies that destroy the newborn's RBC. This causes sudden buildup of high levels of bilirubin that is evident within the first day of life. Should that happen, the infant will be placed under special lights (phototherapy) that will help her bilirubin levels decrease rapidly. Very rarely, when the levels of bilirubin do not decrease with desired speed, the baby may require a blood transfusion to prevent kernicterus.

Jaundice is an outcome of uprise, in the bloodline, of bilirubin, a yellow coloured pigment that comes out by the breakdown of aged RBCs. It is normal for the RBCs to collapse, while the bilirubin formed does not generally lawsuit jaundice Since the liver will metabolise them and thereby eliminate it inside the gut. Still, the newborn infant will frequently go jaundiced on the first a couple of days because of the enzymes from the liver that metabolises the bilirubin turning comparatively unripe. Hence, the newborn infant might hold numerous red blood corpuscles than that of adults, and so several will collapse at some given time.

When I had my first child, I was already determined to breastfeed my baby while I was pregnant, even though I didn't have the faintest idea how I would do it. Thank God I had a baby that could latch on easily, so that part was quite easy for me. However, she cried more frequently than the other bottle fed babies, and I had to ward off all the doctors' and nurses' persuasion to bottle feed my baby (they obviously were not happy that my breastfed baby was giving them more work compared to other bottle fed babies).

However, if the serum bilirubin levels rise too excessively, it may be because for due concern. Unconjugated bilirubin can penetrate the blood-brain barrier and is neurotoxic (toxic to the brain-neuro). It can cause death in newborns. Infants who survive would have lifelong neurologic sequelae. Increased levels of unconjugated-indirect bilirubin which is free (not bound to albumin) may cause kernicterus damage to the brain centers of those infants.Such conditions frequently warrants diagnostic evaluation to ensure that the neonatal jaundice does not turn fatal.

Jaundice is a yellow discoloration of the skin, the mucous membrane and the white of the eyes. All newborns have a certain degree of this condition. Jaundice is due to excessive serum bilirubin in the blood. Once he is born, a newborn baby starts to use his lungs to breathe.

postnatal depression

Postnatal depression is estimated to affect 1 in 5 women and is found in all cultural, social and age groups. There are different types of this condition experienced by mothers after birth. There is the 'Baby Blues' which usually occurs between the 3rd and 5th day and usually resolve by the 10th day. It is thought to be the response to hormone changes and the stress of giving birth and occurs in up to 70% of women.

Giving birth to a new child is one of the most positive events that should occur during your lifetime. However, Postnatal Depression or the 'Baby Blues' is more common than the general public would believe. Somewhere between ten and fifteen percent of mothers will suffer from this condition in some shape or form. It is not unusual for the drain and strain of giving birth to leave you feeling run down. The more sinister symptoms of Postnatal Depression however that develop normally in the first month after birth can last for months and be severe.

o Inability to be Comforted: The patient will always feel restless. There will be no comfort level for the patient. The patient will never be happy.

o Exhaustion: The patient will suffer from tiredness and exhaustion. She will feel like sleeping always.

o Emptiness: The patient will feel that something is missing in her life. She will not be able to enjoy the positive environment around her.

o Inability to Enjoy Things One Previously Enjoyed: She will dislike the things that she had liked earlier.

o Social Withdrawal: The patient will withdraw herself within her room and will not interact with anyone else.

o Low Energy: Energy levels will be low for the patients. She will always look as she has not eaten anything or she will look extremely tired.

It has been scientifically proven that certain activities do effect the chemistry of our brains, our moods and sense of well being. On the surface people only think of the joy of being pregnant; after all we are bringing life into the world; What could be more joyous than that? However, at least lately, woman are finally able to openly recognize some of the not so positive mental and physical aspects of pregnancy.

Omega 3 fatty acids seem to play an important role in mood maintenance. During pregnancy, the growing foetus will deplete its mothers DHA levels to support its own brain development. If your levels are being substantially depleted, you may increase your risk of suffering from postnatal depression. Include at least 2 serves of oily fish in your diet each week from either salmon, trout, mackerel, herrings or sardines.

Breathing Exercises/Meditation - I came across a book that detailed some breathing exercises in it. It was really helpful to just sit with my thoughts and for a few moments a day be at peace with myself. Natural Remedies- There are a sleuw of natural remedies that you can look into. They can be found in books and online journals.

after episiotomy

If you're like me when I was pregnant, you are probably being bombarded with information. Between reading and getting so much advice about everything from what to feed your baby to which diaper cream to use, you might find that you have more questions than answers. You are also probably wondering about what to expect on the BIG day.

He quickly positioned a hypodermic needle and injected anesthetic into a section of my wife's perineal tissue - the skin between the vagina and the anus. Next he grabbed a scalpel and carefully addressed the freshly anesthetized area. The attending nurse and I instinctively wheeled our heads to the side so that our eyes could not see what happened next. "I never watch this part," she told me, as the doctor quickly performed a simple procedure known as an episiotomy. Our daughter was born minutes later. As mother and daughter were meeting face-to-face for the very first time, the doctor was busy stitching the incision created during the episiotomy.

If you have had an episiotomy your medical team has carried out a surgical cut through your perineum. The reason for carrying out this procedure is to make the vagina larger with the intention of easing the birth of your child. This is normally carried out when the medical team are worried for your safety during a complicated and prolonged birth, or worried about the safety of your child. A surgical cut is preferred to a natural tearing that might occur if the birth goes ahead without an episiotomy because a natural tear will cause a ragged tear which is more difficult to stitch.

Homeopathy is a natural and complete system of health care. It works by finding the cause of the problem, and/or by your unique set of symptoms. The cause is what is blocking your immune system from functioning as it should. Free the block, by undoing the cause, and away you go. Your natural healing abilities return.

o Keep it and spaces around the cut clean with regular showering or bathing.

o Clean up from front to back to avoid infection.

o Apply ice packs, enfolded in a towel, for the first 24 hours after delivery.

o Frequently change your pads (choose a peripad--a sanitary napkin that absorb the normal bleeding that occurs after you give birth--or a witch hazel pad, or a medicated pad recommended by your practitioner) to help avoid infection.

o Sit on a donut pillow while your bottom is still sore. So you can sit down and nurse your baby.

o Reduce swelling by applying a cold pack to the incision for 20 minutes at time for a few days.

One of the best things you can do is prepare some frozen menstrual pads before you have the baby. Disposables work best for this. If you can get witch hazel from the store to saturate them with, all the better. Witch hazel acts to reduce swelling. If you can't find any, water will work as well. Saturate the pads and form them into "C" shapes (a cereal bowl works great for this) and freeze them individually. After the birth, wrap this around your tender nether region.

baby sleep habits

Good baby sleep habits are very important to get in place early on in baby's life. It sounds strange to say something like that about a tiny baby, but remember they are tiny humans - and like yourself they are creatures of habit. Breaks in those habits once set, can make them feel very insecure, and a result of that is that you will feel very tired.

That babies could be born with the sleep through the night gene that magically kicks in as soon as they are out of the womb. Unfortunately we know that just isn't the case. We do need to intervene and it is a skill a baby must learn. Ever heard of sleep like a baby? Well I don't know about you but from what I've seen not many children sleep like a baby as soon as they are born. Oh sure, they sleep during the day and for intervals during the night but most of the time they are sleeping when we could best handle them being awake and awake when we could best handle them being asleep.

Routine, routine, routine . Nighttime routine and daytime routines are SOOOO important to every child, from infancy on. Having a daytime routine for meals and nap times is critical for all babies. Even if all you do is breastfeed, there should be a routine of eat, play and sleep. So for many parents out there, having a fairly stable routine is not too hard... but for others like me whom are always on the go and or have a terrible time at maintaining a daily routine.... well it really depends on your baby.

After they are born, babies need to sleep often. However, they do not slumber for long stretches at a time. Parents have to respond as quickly as possible to their baby's sleep and eating needs because very young infants need to eat and sleep on demand. You will find it easier to achieve this by keeping the baby near you. An infant usually follows a pattern similar to eat, poop, sleep, quiet alert time, and repeat. It is important that you observe your baby when he or she is at one of these stages.

You're at your wits end, pulling out your hair, yawning all the time, and your eye lids feel the weight of the world. Instead of consistent sleep you are getting a couple of hours here and there because your baby cries for you throughout the night.

Going to sleep is a habit. And a consistent bedtime routine helps your child develop this habit.

Typically, a good Pre-Toddler's Sleep Routine will go something like this: Take a bath, have a bottle or breastfeed, burp and cuddle a bit until tired, lay in bed while still awake... and sleep.

If your child is a newborn, washing his or her face and hands may replace a full bath.

For a toddler, the routine may be a little different. The need for a pre-bedtime feeding is gone. Toddlers also need more mental stimulation, so stories or lullabies are often a good bet.
